[VIDEO]: Collagen makes a comeback!

There's a "new" old kid on the block that everyone's talking about: COLLAGEN. Oh, you know, that protein made up of powerhouse amino acids that does wonders for your hair, skin, digestion, and joints. Before you turn your nose up to this protein dream boat, you may want to hear a little more about it, which is why I've dedicated an entire episode of Michelle's Monday Minutes to all things collagen (video below).

There's also something to be said for the quality of your collagen. Just like the meat we eat, make sure the animal was raised well. I look for grass-fed collagen, since that's the standard of meat that I eat. To dissolve collage into any liquid, hot or cold, with no solidifying properties, my favorite brand is Bulletproof Upgraded Collagen Protein. Another great brand is Great Lakes (with the green label). To solidify your liquids, Great Lakes (with the red label) is the way to go. All grass-fed, all damn-good.

Strawberry-Lemonade Gummies
Servings: 10 snack portions

1 c. frozen strawberries
3/4 c. fresh squeezed lemon juice
3 tbsp. raw honey
1/4 c. unflavored gelatin

  1. Blitz strawberries and lemon juice in a high-speed blender until completely mixed. Pour into a small saucepan.
  2. Whisk in honey and gelatin until fully combined.
  3. Turn heat on low and continue whisking until thinned, about 5-10 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat, and carefully pour into silicone molds (or you can use a baking dish). Place in the fridge for at least 2 hours to solidify. Remove gummies from the molds (or if you used a baking dish, cut into small squares).
